Said no one, ever.

Meme Alert! For those of you who don’t have Facebook accounts, here’s my attempt to keep you culturally hip.

In the past couple weeks, people have been sharing humorous or ironic quotes (most often accompanied by a generic image rendered by SomeEcards.com), followed by the attribution; “said no one ever” – or another variation, more specifically identifying who wouldn’t have said it.

Of course, that got me thinking about my own versions of this. Although I hate the word “meme,” it doesn’t stop me from participating. So, with no further ado, here are my contributions:

Am I the only person who hates the word “meme”?

So we’ve all seen Sh*t Girls Say and the subsequent variations on that theme, right? If not, this might be the point when you just keep your mouth shut and google it so you don’t reveal how out of touch you are with viral videos. Or, conversely, you might want to throw your laptop out a window and admit that technology has out-paced you.

For those of you who do know what I’m talking about, I present my nomination for an award I’ve just created, called Best in Meme:

I saw this a few weeks ago and thought it would’ve been old news on the internets by now. However, based on a) the number of blank looks I’ve received when quoting snippets, and b) the number of people who also haven’t seen the HoneyBadger video, I’m thinking that “going viral” in the YouTube sense is somewhat different than pink eye making the rounds in my office.

Consider this a Public Service Announcement then. Because it’s for your own good, but more in the “pop culture” category than the “eat your veggies” category:

You’re welcome.
